Amrit Festival of Freedom (Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav)-Amrit Mahostav Essay
The future of a nation is bright only when it remains connected moment by moment with the pride of its past experiences and heritage. We all know that India has a rich historical consciousness and an immeasurable store of cultural heritage to feel proud of.
To witness this historical, cultural, national consciousness, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the ‘Azadi Ke Amrit Mahotsav’ program dedicated to the 75th anniversary of independence by flagging off a padayatra (freedom march) from Sabarmati Ashram in Ahmedabad, Gujarat. Azadi’s Amrit Mahotsav began 75 weeks before the 15th of August 2022 and will last through the 15th of August 2023.
The Amrit Mahotsav of Azadi means the elixir of inspiration from the freedom fighters. The elixir of freedom means the elixir of new ideas, the elixir of new resolutions, the elixir of freedom is the festival ie – the elixir of self-reliance.
Freedom Struggle
The freedom struggle of 1857, Mahatma Gandhi’s return from abroad, reminding the country again of the power of ‘Satyagraha‘, Lokmanya Tilak’s call for “Purna Swaraj“, Azad Hind Fauj’s “Delhi March” under the leadership of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose. Who can forget the slogan of “Delhi Chalo“.
To save this pride of history, every state, in every field is making efforts in this direction. The country has completed the restoration of the Dandi Yatra site only two years ago. In Andaman, where Netaji Subhash had hoisted the tricolor by forming the country’s first independent government, the country has also given a grand shape to that forgotten history.
The islands of Andaman and Nicobar are named after the freedom struggle. Work has been completed on all memorials, whether in Jallianwala Bagh or memory of the ‘Paika-movement.’ The country has also developed Panchtirth in the places associated with Babasaheb that had been forgotten for decades.
Every citizen of India can never forget the call of Lokmanya Tilak’s ‘Purna Swaraj‘, ‘Azad Hind Fauj’s ‘Delhi Chalo‘, Quit India Movement. We take inspiration from Mangal Pandey, Tatya Tope, Rani Laxmi Bai, Chandrashekhar Azad, Bhagat Singh, Pt. Nehru, Sardar Patel, Ambedkar.
Awakening
There were men, women, and youth from every corner of the country who sacrificed innumerable austerities to liberate India.
The work of continuously awakening this flame of the freedom movement, east-west-north-south, in every direction, in every field, was done by our saints-mahants, acharyas.
In a way, the Bhakti movement had prepared the backbone of the nationwide freedom movement.
Salt was a symbol of India’s self-reliance at that time when Gandhiji traveled to Dandi and broke the salt law. Along with the values of India, the British had also attacked this self-reliance. The people of India had to depend on salt coming from England.
Gandhiji understood this old pain of the country, caught that pulse related to the people. Seeing this movement became the movement of every Indian, it became the resolve of every Indian. Here salt means loyalty.
Even today we say that we have eaten the salt of the country. Not because salt is something very precious. This is because salt is a symbol of labor and equality for us.
When we think of the era of British rule when millions of people were waiting for independence, this makes the celebration of 75 years of independence even more significant. The Amrit Mahotsav of Azadi will give the inspiration to move forward by keeping the dreams and duties of independent India in front of the country along with the freedom struggle.
Conclusion
It is the good fortune of all of us that we are witnessing this historic period of independent India in which India is touching new heights of progress. Today’s India has got its name written in the front line in the world. On this virtuous occasion, we pay our homage at the feet of Bapu and bow down to the feet of all the great personalities who led the country, who sacrificed themselves in the freedom struggle of the country.

Welcome to the honorable chief guest, principal sir, teachers and my all dear friends. My name is Pankaj Soni and I wish you all a very Happy Independence Day and Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav. This year is very special for all of us Indians, because on this day our country is completing 75 years of independence from the slavery of the British. As we all know that our country became independent on 15th August 1947. In the joy of completing 75 years of independence, India is celebrating the 'Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav' for the last one year and this festival will be celebrated till 15th August 2023.
There are many purposes for celebrating the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav such as remembering the freedom fighters, remembering the sacrifices of the freedom fighters, making today's generation aware of the independence of India, inculcating the feeling of patriotism among the citizens of India and It is very important for people to know the achievements that India has achieved in the last 75 years.
Most of the young generation of India is not well acquainted with the freedom struggle of India such as: What challenges did our country face to get freedom and how many people sacrificed their lives to make the country independent. After so many struggles and difficulties, we got this freedom. It is very important for the young generation of today to know the history of India's independence, because we are the future of the country.
Our country got independence from the British after 200 years of slavery. For almost 200 years our freedom fighters fought with the British and faced many difficulties. Even our freedom fighters had sacrificed their lives to free India from the slavery of the British. My heartfelt salute to all those freedom fighters, because the independent life that we are living today is the gift of them. Great freedom fighters of India like Mahatma Gandhi, Bhagat Singh, Sukhdev, Rajguru, Subhash Chandra Bose, Khudiram Ram Bose, Chandrashekhar Azad, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, Lala Lajpat Rai, Bal Gangadhar Tilak, Lal Bahadur Shastri, Jawaharlal Nehru, Rani Laxmibai, Mangal Pandey, Tatya Tope was born in India. All of them played an important role in the independence of India.
We all should know the value of freedom, so that our generation and the coming generation can get courage to face the challenges facing the country. Stories of freedom struggle must be taught in schools, so that children can understand the history of the country's independence and the importance of independence.
Our country has completed 75 years of independence and in these 75 years our country has achieved many achievements. India is progressing continuously. The economy of our country is a very fast growing economy. There was a time when after the partition of the country, the economy of our country had become very bad and it became difficult to run the country, but on the strength of our continuous efforts, our country is standing in front of the world as a strong economy today.
